The Director of Residential Education (Cindi Avery) directly supervises the Associate Director of Residential Education, (Dr. Susan Shuckett), the Academic Coordinator for Living Learning Communities (Mary Sue Brookshire), the Assistant to the Director (Nancy Tavolazzi) and the Faculty in Residence program. In general, the Director oversees the entire office and serves as a liaison between the Division of Student Affairs and REO.
The Associate Director for Residential Education directly supervise the seven Residence Hall Coordinators. The Associate Directors serve as the CSP 310 instructors of record, administrators on-call and assessment officers. The Associate Director also works to develop the goals and future direction of the office.
The Assistant Director for Residential Education is reponsible for special projects and processes for the office, such as staff training, staff recruitment and living learning community development.
The Academic Coordinator for Living Learning Communities directly supervises the Academic Mentors. In general, the Academic Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of the different Living Learning Communities, which includes the LLC at Maya and Olmeca, Toltec House and ICIA.
The Judicial Assistant directly supervises Student Assistants. The Judicial Assistant is not actually supervised by anyone in REO, the position is overseen by the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities. In general, the Judicial Assistant oversees the judicial process for all the residence halls and schedules all informal judicial conferences and organizes all the necessary forms and letters.
The Assistant to the Director for Residential Education directly supervises Student Assistants. In general, the Assistant to the Director oversees administrative process for REO, including payroll, ordering supplies and special event planning, as well as other duties as assigned by the Director.
The Faculty in Residence program places an SDSU faculty or staff member in each of the residence halls. Each Faculty/Scholar in Residence lives in an apartment in the hall and coordinates programming efforts for the hall with REO staff.
Chapultepec, the LLC, Tenochca, VA and Zura each have one FIR. Cuicacalli has two FIRs living in and UT has a Faculty Fellow, but the Faculty Fellow does not live in.
The seven Residence Hall Coordinators (you and your colleagues!) directly supervise the Residence Hall Coordinator Assistant and the staff of Resident Advisors for one residence hall. In general, the Residence Hall Coordinators oversee the daily operations and programming efforts for the halls.
The seven Residence Hall Coordinator Assistants (your assistant) directly supervises the Desk Assistants and Security Monitors. In general, the Residence Hall Coordinator Assistants oversee the daily operation of the residence hall front desks and handle all supervisory responsibilities related to the front desk, including hiring, training and scheduling desk staff. The RHCAs also complete payroll each month and other special assignments as assigned by the Residence Hall Coordinators.
The Resident Advisors (your staff) directly supervise the residents of the halls. In general, the Resident Advisors are responsible for the development of the individual students as well as the community as a whole. The RAs also complete programming requirements and other special assignments as assigned by the Residence Hall Coordinators.
The Academic Mentors directly supervise the academic performance of the residents of the halls. In general, Academic Mentors will work in conjunction with the Resident Advisors they are paired with and are responsible for assisting residents with issues and questions related to their academic coursework and progress.
